Kickstart Scheme for Schools

Join thousands of schools, nurseries and colleges who are taking advantage of the Kickstart Scheme.

We’ll help you overcome the challenges caused by Coronavirus with free staff on kickstart work placements. We’re a DWP approved kickstart scheme gateway and training provider.

The Kickstart scheme was designed by the government to prevent young people from becoming reliant on Universal Credit long term.

The scheme asks employers to create a 6 month work placement for those aged 16-24; allowing young people to gain valuable experience and training which boosts their employability and life skills.

Employers can create as many placements as they like, each lasting 6 months. There is no obligation to offer the young person a full time position after the placement has ended (unless they want too!).

The best bit? The government will cover the wages of each young person (National Minimum Wage for 25 hours a week), plus the associated employer minimum National Insurance and Pension contributions.

What you need to know

The placement should be 6 months and can start anytime during 2021.

Eligible Candidates

The people you hire must be 16-24 years old and on Universal Credit.

Why Think Teaching?

We already have hundreds of young people ready and waiting to start a career in education. We work with the Jobcentre Plus and third sector organisations to upskill and retrain people claiming Universal Credit.

We’re passionate about training the next generation of teaching assistants, school administrators, early years practitioners, caretakers and education support staff.

We have over 20 years experience helping people achieve their careers goals. We equip people with knowledge and skills, fully accredited qualifications and the confidence they need to be successful in a career they love.
