This qualification aims to develop learners’ knowledge and understanding of the Prevent duty, British values, safeguarding, and online safety. This qualification will help to develop learners’ knowledge and understanding to enable them to uphold British values in their current or future roles. This includes developing an understanding of the effects of extremism, radicalisation, and terrorism. The qualification also develops learners’ knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and online safety.

Additional Information

The knowledge and understanding developed in this course is appropriate to a wide range of job roles and is relevant to organisations in meeting their statutory requirements under the Prevent Duty. The qualification is suitable for a wide range of learners, especially those on apprenticeship programmes or other training to prepare for work or as part of induction to a job role. It can also be used as part of citizenship programmes for individuals coming to live in the UK.

This Level 2 Certificate is a knowledge-based course, so classroom experience isn’t necessary to complete the qualification. Assessments are integrated into the programme, so there’s no need to worry about the stress of a final exam. On completion of this course, you will receive the TQUK Level 2 Certificate in Safeguarding, Prevent, and British Values.

On completion of this unit, you will:

Understand the national and local context of safeguarding and protection from abuse.
Understand the responsibilities of adults to safeguard children and young people.
Know how to recognise potential and actual abuse and harm.
Know how to respond if abuse is disclosed, suspected, or alleged.
Understand ways to reduce the likelihood of abuse.
On completion of this unit, you will:

Understand the Prevent duty and its importance in society.
Understand how extremism, terrorism, and radicalisation can be addressed and combated.
On completion of this unit, you will:

Understand the scope and risks of online activity.
Understand how online risks can be minimised.
Understand the influence of social media.
Understand how to promote the safe use of social media.
Understand how to recognise and respond to changes in behaviour indicating unsafe online activity.
On completion of this unit, you will:

Understand what is meant by ‘British Values’.
Understand democracy in relation to British Values.
Understand mutual respect, tolerance, and individual liberty.
Know how to promote British Values in own activities.

More Information

Entry Requirements

Learners should be aged 16 and over, but otherwise, there are no specific entry requirements for this programme.
Learners must have access to a computer, laptop, tablet, or smartphone. (Computer/laptop recommended).
Level 2 equivalent in English is advantageous but not a necessity.

This qualification is aimed at anyone responsible for safeguarding children, young people, or vulnerable adults. It will be particularly useful for people working in a training or educational setting, youth workers, and those involved in running youth sports teams and community groups that support children and young people.

On completion of this course you will receive the NCFE CACHE Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Safeguard and Prevent (RQF Qualification Number: 603/2818/6). These qualifications are listed on the government regulated qualification website

You’ll be able to employ what you’ve learned the most in an educational setting, regardless of the age range you’re going to be working with. Safeguarding and Prevent knowledge is seen as extremely important in the education sector, and will help you to get the position you want since you’ll be going into the application process able to show off your knowledge either on your CV or during your interview(s).

If you’re already working in an environment where safeguarding knowledge is important, such as a school or healthcare setting, the knowledge you gain in our Level 2 Safeguarding course will help you to do your job by making it easier for you to spot safeguarding issues and how you should deal with them. 

Having this knowledge is going to be especially useful if your colleagues are lacking in training, meaning you can stand out and help to deal with the issues you or your team weren’t qualified for beforehand. You won’t just be improving yourself but helping to improve your organisation as a whole.
